Today's question comes from BJ, in Rhode Island, who writes:
*Why the heck does The History Channel insist on showing those stupid
"MonsterQuest" episodes?...

1. CooL (150) + LiVe (55) = CCV (205)
-OR-
CooL (150) + LIVe (54) = CCIV (204)
[These were as close as I could get based on the clues. Maybe someone else will come up with the exact 165 result...? Using LiVe -- after subtracting 55 or 54 from 165 I am left with 111 or 110 which are CXI or CX and not feeling very "hip". If I use CooL as 150 then I am left with 15 which is XV and doesn't compute with me either.]
2. MuLe (1050) + MiX (1010) = MMLX (2060)
3. MoDeL (1550) + CoD (400)= MCML (1950)
4. LaX (60) + DeaL (550) = DCX (610)
5. MiMe (2000) + MeDiC (1600) = MMMDC (3600)
[Originally for #5 I was thinking DoC (600) for the healing man plus MiMe (2000), but that only totalled 2600 -- well played Hawkins, well played.] =D
Thanks for another great puzzle Hawkins. And thanks for working in the mule again -- even though it wasn't mentioned, in my head the mule was rocket powered once again. ;o)

#1 is a typo--Cool and live are correct. I should probably hire a proofreader (: . Thanks Billy and Shaun for bringing it to my attention--I'll fix it when I get home.

Glad you liked the mule reference--I knew I had to use it once I realized the letters fit.
Awesome. I guess I was able to get all 5 then. Because of the typo in #1 I would have to give this puzzle a difficulty rating of "Hard w/Trickery". You sure had me scratching my head for #1.
Anyway, you were asking what our favorite types of puzzles were and I'd have to say that this was one of your best to date, in my opinion. I also really enjoyed the Moose Truce (Puzzle #8: Was Great).
